BIO

Julian Robbins is a visual artist whose practice centers around 3D digital creation, printed image, written word, and sculpture, in addition to expanding into media from large-format digital prints to hand-bound artist’s books. Robbins’s work is rooted in aer experiences as a neurodivergent and transgender individual and aer background in linguistics and book conservation, all of which have informed the artist’s interest in language, history, and narrative. Aer gospels communicate subjects including the historical transgender narratives of the early Christian saints known as the “transvestite saints” and modern experiences of digitally-mediated connection and community among gender-variant individuals. Aer work is a digital pilgrimage where both the historical and the hyper-modern serve as guides, investigating marginalized narratives as well as expression, agency, and autonomy in the socially alienated.

Julian Robbins is currently a Graduate Teaching Associate and MFA candidate at the Ohio State University.
